Z’Tejas Celebrates Hatch Chiles with New Seasonal Menu


The Southwest’s Green Obsession is Showcased in Seven New Dishes

The annual harvest of the Hatch green chile is a momentous event in the Southwest. The aroma of fire roasted chiles lingers in the air, Hatch-infused breakfasts, lunches and dinners become the norm and piles of the green beauties can be seen on roadside stands and grocery store parking lots. Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill joins this celebration with the new Hatch Chile Fest menu.

The Hatch green chile is unmatched in its versatility  - sautéed, roasted, chopped, it can be used in sauces, toppings to tacos, mixed into stews, crushed into margaritas even stirred into ice cream.  Executive Chef Dan Santos has created an inspired menu with mouth-wateringly good dishes that are both savory and sweet.


“This time of year is very exciting for us and we look forward to treating our guests to this special menu,” said Santos. The new dishes are:


Tostada Nachos

Corn tortilla topped with barbacoa, borracho beans, seasonal chiles, salsa fresca, Jack cheese, Cotija cheese, chipotle sour cream. $12


Chile and Watermelon Gazpacho

Seasonal chiles, watermelon, onion, mint, cilantro, spices, tequila, lime and topped with pickled watermelon. $6

 
Calabacitas con Elote

Zucchini, seasonal chiles, onion, garlic, Roma tomatoes, roasted corn, Cotija cheese, cilantro, served with seasonal rice and black beans. Choice of grilled chicken $14, Fajita beef $15, or cilantro grilled shrimp $18.


Tequila Glazed Ribs

Brined and smoked baby back ribs, Hatch chile powder, spices, tequila, pineapple juice, lime juice, served with chef’s choice of vegetables and mashed potato of the day. $22


Pan Seared Steak

14oz ribeye steak topped with seasonal chiles, roasted garlic, lime juice, tequila and butter, served with chef’s choice of vegetable and mashed potato of the day. $34


Pan Poached Cod with Chile Sauce

Cod seasoned with chile, tomatoes, garlic, cilantro, onion, lime juice, wine, and spices, served with seasonal rice and chef’s choice of vegetable. $18.

 
Pecan Pie with Green Chile Ice Cream

House-made chocolate chip pecan pie served with seasonal chile vanilla ice cream. $7


This seasonal menu will be available at all five Phoenix Z’Tejas locations from August 1 – October 31. Z’Tejas serves lunch and dinner daily and brunch on the weekends.
